Inscriptions from the Old Burying Ground, Essex, Mass.
with Annotations

edited and annotated by Kurt Wilhelm

These inscriptions are based on a cemetery survey taken in 1991, and transcribed to a computer file by the Essex Shipbuilding Museum.

The letter in the identification number of each gravestone indicates the location of the gravestone at the time of the 1991 survey. "A" are on the left side of the burial ground, "B" on the right, "C" are reposited in the Essex Shipbuilding Museum, and "X" indicates stones which can no longer be found, but there is evidence of their existence. Within each section, the gravestones are numbered from front to back. Rows are indicated here with a blank line.
